January 31st – Team Registrations due
- Team Registration Form & $950 Tournament Fee due – per team
Why so early? The number of teams are used to calculate the number of games needed, fields, umpires schedule, etc. – the reservations for all of which are placed in early Feb.
ASAP – Families arrange lodging to maximize available options
- Participating families should reserve tournament week lodging in Polk County, FL, as early as possible
February 28th – Team Program submissions due
- Team Roster Page Due (Doc) – 1 per team; send as Word doc via email
- layout is standardized (must include ALL players who MAY participate in the tournament, up to 18)
- Player Registration Form & $65 Player Fees due – per player
- Senior Photo/Bio Page due (Sample Senior Page) – per team; send via email – layout is flexible to team preferences
Why so early? For transparency and to avoid issues of the kind experienced in other homeschool national championships, the HWSA has always had a rule requiring that all players who take the field must be listed in the tournament program. With supply chain issues the last few years, our printer has needed to start printing in early March rather than mid-March as in years past. The program also serves as a fantastic souvenir for players and families, and worth the scramble to determine maximum “potential rosters” by Feb 28. As noted below, we allow removals from the roster with full refunds through month-end March.
March 31st – Final roster reductions due
- Any removals from the Team Roster are due via email
- Refunds will be issued to any players withdrawn by this date
April 15th – Housing details due
- Team Housing Report Due – 1 per team; send via email
May 1st – Tournament starts
- HWSA tournament kicks off with coaches’ meeting 7p et May 1st; Opening ceremony 9a the following morning
