The Patriots Advance to D-1 Semifinals

The St. Louis Patriots squared off against the Tulsa Jaguars in the quarterfinals of division 1 bracket play Thursday. The last time these two teams faced each other was the 2021 HWSA Championship game, and today’s matchup did not disappoint.

St. Louis scored one run in the top of the first on a wild pitch. Tulsa countered with three runs on two hits and an error in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 3-1 lead. This margin would hold all the way until the top of the 7th.

In the final inning, St. Louis got two runners on with errors before coming up with back to back singles to take the lead. The game was tied at three with St. Louis batting in the top of the seventh when Abraham Fischer singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run and taking a 4-3 lead.

Ajani Henke started the game for the Patriots. Henke surrendered three runs on three hits over five innings, striking out seven. Reid Coulter took the win for St. Louis. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out two.

The Patriots advance to the semifinals where they will face the Carrolton Storm on Friday.
