Four years after closing out the 2015 Championship game to win the Angels their third straight HWSA National Championship, former Dallas HSAA Angels RHP M.D. Johnson was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 6th round of this year’s MLB amateur draft yesterday. It marks the earliest any HWSA alumnus has been selected in the draft.

Johnson pitched for four years at Dallas Baptist University, notching their Division I record for most career wins (29) and 2nd most career strikeouts (274).

The Marlins clearly thought the RHP would made a nice addition to their franchise; they made M.D. the 171st overall pick of this year’s draft.

Show them what you’ve got M.D… HWSA Nation will be watching and cheering for you!
