Ex-HWSA Player Ryan Beckman Drafted by Pittsburg Pirates in 18th Round

June 13, 2009---Ryan Beckman, former player for the West Ft Worth (PTHSS) Warriors, was drafted in the 18th round (overall 535) by the major league baseball organization, Pittsburg Pirates, it was announced.

The 6-4, 185-lb Beckman competed for HWSA (Homeschool World Series Association) for 3 years. He played his senior year at North Crowley High School.

Ryan Beckman is coming off his freshman year at Grayson County Junior College (Sherman, TX), where he was a right-handed pitcher on the pitching staff. He finished his freshman year with a 4-1 record (2 saves) and appeared in 19 games.

"I'm pretty excited about what's going on right now," said Beckman, who will most likely sign but would return for his sophomore year if the numbers aren't right. "I've matured a bit for sure in my time at Grayson."

Ryan is the son of Robert & Judy Beckman of Ft. Worth.

 

HWSA Standout Caleb Miller Drafted by Washington Nationals in 36th Round---Headed to Clarendon Junior College (TX)

August 18, 2009---Caleb (Joshua) Miller, home-schooled senior who played for the San Antonio Patriots (formerly San Antonio FEAST Patriots), was drafted in the 36th round (overall 1072) by the major league baseball organization, Washington Nationals, it was announced.

Miller has decided to attend Clarendon Junior College (TX), where he will be eligible for next year's draft.

The 6-3, 186-lb Miller competed for HWSA (Homeschool World Series Association) for 4 years.

Caleb Miller is a left-handed pitcher, who also bats left-handed. When Miller was not on the mound, he played 1st base and outfield.
