World Series Qualifying Regional Tournaments

Leading up to the Homeschool World Series, fifteen baseball teams from six different states compete in their respective Regional Tournament for a chance to qualify for the 2003 National World Series. Eight teams total will advance to the 2003 Homeschool Baseball World Series from the Regional Tournaments.

Central Division Regional Tournament

The Central Division Regional Tourney was held on the weekend of April 4-6th in Dallas, TX. The Dallas Angels hosted the tournament on their home field. Three berths to the World Series were awarded to the five teams that competed in the Central Division Regional Tourney: Dallas, TX Angels; Ft. Worth, TX Riders; Houston, TX Eagles; Montgomery Co., TX Mustangs; and the Oklahoma City, OK Broncos. A special thanks goes out to the Central Regional Tournament Director, Tim Day , for all of his hard work in creating a memorable and smooth-running tournament. Also, congratulations to the 2003 World Series Qualifiers from the Central Regional Tournament: the Dallas Angels (Champions), Oklahoma City Broncos (2nd Place), and Ft. Worth Riders (3rd Place).

Eastern Division Regional Tournament

The Eastern Division Regional Tourney was held on the weekend of April 24-26th in Atlanta, GA. Despite thunderstorms and tornado warnings on the first day of the tourney, the Eastern Regional Tournament was able to be played out completely on Saturday and Sunday with minor adjustments. Games were allotted five-innings or a 1 1/2 hour time-limit, whichever came first. Ten teams competed in the Eastern Regional Tournament of which three (3) teams in East A Division and two (2) teams in East B division qualified for the World Series. Among the two Eastern Divisions were the following homeschool baseball teams:

Eastern Division A: Atlanta, GA Barons; FL Manatee HEAT; Huntsville, AL Falcons; Raleigh, NC Warriors;and the South Metro, GA Mustangs

Eastern Division B: Atlanta (North), GA Lions; Atlanta (South), Augusta, GA Eagles; GA Lions; Manchester, GA Patriots; and the Nashville, TN Monarchs.

Once again, a very special thanks goes out to Eastern Regional Tourney Director, Jim Kill, for all his hard work and whole-hearted effort to create a memorable experience for the ten teams involved in the ERT. Also, congratulations to the 2003 World Series Qualifiers from the Eastern Regional Tournament: Atlanta, GA Barons (Champions - East A), Florida Manatee HEAT (2nd Place - East A),Huntsville, AL Falcons (3rd Place - East A), Atlanta (South), GA Knights (1st Place - East B), and Nashville, TN Monarchs (2nd Place - East B).
